Because our free model is funded entirely by a share of the orders a site produces. A site that takes no orders generates nothing for us to take a share of, so there is no honest way to give it away. Charging for it is the alternative to pretending otherwise.

Because a five-page site for a plumber and a forty-page site for a clinic are not the same job. Charging both the same figure means one is overcharged and the other gets less than they needed. The estimator on the pricing page shows roughly where you would land, and we agree a fixed number with you before any work starts.

Tell us your budget and we will tell you honestly what fits inside it. Often that means launching with fewer pages and adding more later, or a longer instalment term. Sometimes it means we are the wrong choice, and we will say so rather than cutting corners to make the number work.

The one-time price covers the build plus a year of hosting, after which a small monthly fee keeps the site online. Instalments spread the same total over 3, 6 or 12 months with nothing upfront and no interest, and hosting and maintenance stay included throughout.

Hosting, SSL certificates, backups, security patching and support are genuine recurring costs to us. On our order-based sites those costs are covered by the transaction fee. Without orders, they have to be covered directly.

Yes. If you add a shop, a booking system or ticketing and it starts generating orders, we will move you onto the order-based arrangement and stop the monthly charge.
