Cookie policy
Every piece of storage this site can use, why, and for how long. Generated from the same file the site's code reads, so it cannot quietly fall out of date.
This policy covers cookies and similar technologies such as local storage: anything this website stores on, or reads from, your device. It sits alongside our privacy policy.
The short version
- Essential storage is always on. It is exempt from consent, either because the site needs it or because you set it yourself, and none of it tracks you.
- Right now we use nothing optional at all: no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. That is why you have not seen a cookie banner: there is nothing to ask you about. If that changes, you will be asked before anything loads.
- Our fonts come from our own server. Loading a page does not tell Google, or anyone else, that you visited.

Essential
Storage the site needs, or that you set yourself. None of it tracks you, and it is exempt from consent under UK and EU law, so it cannot be switched off here.

Analytics (not currently in use)
Shows us which pages people read and where they give up, so we can improve the site. Counted in aggregate and never used to identify you.
Legal basis: Your consent. Google Analytics sends data to Google, so it does not qualify for the UK statistics exemption and we ask first.

Marketing (not currently in use)
Tells us whether our Facebook and Instagram adverts lead to real enquiries, so we stop paying for the ones that do not.

Changing your mind
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time, and it is as easy as making it. Use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page, or the button below. If you withdraw consent, anything already set is deleted.
Your theme preference
If you use the light/dark switch, we remember your choice so the site does not flash the wrong colours on your next visit. UK and EU law treat a display preference you choose yourself as exempt from consent, provided you can remove it easily, which the button above does. Nothing is stored until you use the switch.
How long we remember your choice
Your cookie choice is remembered for 12 months, after which we ask again. We also ask again straight away if we ever change what we use, because agreeing to the old list is not agreeing to a new one.
Blocking cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. This site keeps working fully if you do. You will just be asked for your choice again, and your theme will follow your device setting.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We do not track visitors across other websites, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track signal to switch off. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal of marketing cookies: they will not load, whatever is chosen in the banner.
Wherever you are visiting from
Every visitor gets the same treatment: nothing optional before you agree, and refusing is as easy as accepting. That meets the UK rules (PECR), the EU rules (the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR, which have no analytics exemption, so we ask first), and US state privacy laws, which require a simple way to opt out.
